Samsung’s Gear VR is a virtual reality headset. The Gear VR can currently only be used with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, which are clamped into the Gear VR glasses. Then the special Oculus app starts and the 3D content is displayed on the display of the smartphone. The Gear VR has several sensors (gyroscopes) to ensure the most accurate head tracking possible. Due to the combination of glasses and smartphone, the Gear VR is a closed system and does not require any additional cables.
